College Football Preview (Part 2)

In an effort to indulge myself, I will now list my juniors and seniors for this upcoming season.
·  Frank Okam (Texas) – He stayed away from last May’s draft to prove his worth.  He put on five pounds for his senior year, but probably lost ten pounds of fat, and probably did it all because [...]

College Football Preview (Part 1)

Tonight Louisiana State University will open the Division-1 football season against Mississippi State.  I would like to share with you the players that I think will have a lot of impact this season, and what their future in the NFL contains.  Some of the players you won’t agree with, some you’ve might not heard of, and [...]

Couple Whispers

From ESPN Insider’s, Whispers from around the NFL, I found a couple notes on the Oakland Raiders.  Insider got these quotes from Pro Football Weekly:
Word out of Oakland is that FB Justin Griffith is expected to make a big difference in the running game, and his versatility as a runner, receiver and blocker should be put to [...]

Cut to 75

Earlier this afternoon the Oakland Raiders finished cutting their roster to 75 players.
On Sunday Head Coach Lane Kiffin cut wide receivers Lauren Williams and Rich Parson, offensive linemen Albert Toeaina and Torrin Tucker, defensive tackle Jared Clauss and defensive backs Colin Branch and Levonne Rowan, and today defensive end Kevin Huntley, wide receiver Johnnie Morant and quarterback [...]

Culpepper Vs. McCown

The Associated Press is reporting Head Coach Lane Kiffin is still deciding on his starting quarterback.  I believe this is Kiffin’s way of keeping the competition high at quarterback, and that Daunte Culpepper is his starter, but that keeping competition tight between Culpepper and Josh McCown is more important than declaring a starter.
Coach Kiffin did [...]

Preseason: Game 3

Come September 9th, Daunte Culpepper will be known as the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. There is no doubt in my mind he proved he’s healthy enough to start for this Raider team. The offensive line for the Raiders played well for the third game in a row, and the defense continued their own [...]

Preseason: Game 3, Preview

Tonight the Raiders play one of their first meaningful games of the season.  Well, meaningful to a certain few.  I believe Daunte Culpepper and Jeremy Newberry can clinch starting positions tonight with effective, cohesive, fumble free football.  Rosters around the league will be cut to 75 players on Tuesday, and that means only pressure for many players struggling to [...]

How do you Plea??

Today Michael Vick filed a plea agreement to dog fighting charges.  Bottom line, he admitted to killing dogs:
“Vick agrees and stipulates that these dogs all died as a result of the collective efforts of Peace, Phillips and Vick.”
I found this quote at ESPN.com, with a summary of Vick’s plea.  Without going into great detail, Vick admitted [...]

The Chief Signs On

Yesterday, Larry Johnson, running back for the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs, signed a 5-year, $43 million dollar contract, with $19 million in guarantees.  This means many things to the already up-in-the-air Chief offense.
Damon Huard wants one last chance to lead a team.  On the other side of the coin, there’s inexperienced Brodie Croyle, and [...]

Preseason: Game 2

Sorry it took so long to get out my recap of the Raiders second preseason game, but family obligations sometimes come first, before sports.  No seriously, I believe every word I just wrote.
After hours of reviewing plenty of tape from both the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders television feeds, I’ve come up with my [...]
