In response to the previous quote:

I have mentioned all season long that the biggest problem the Raiders
have is their front 4. Ted Washington became a Brown before he retired,
Sapp just retired, and Terrdell Sands is 350lbs and gets pushed around
by guys 50lbs less than him. Sands will be a good backup, but never a
good starter. The DT position is definitely of need, but the line as a
whole is more important. If both Chris Long and Glenn Dorsey were
available when the Raiders pick, Long should be taken. The Raiders will
resign Tommy Kelly, but a player like Albert Haynesworth would be
great, but I don't see the Raiders having the money to sign him. Justin
Smith would be a great pickup if it looks like the Dolphins are going
to end up taking Long with the 1st pick. Then the Raiders could add
either Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis. But I'd still be for drafting Long even
if it means that he's the only star the Raiders add to the line. What
Long could do for the fans and the team would be amazing. But my point
in this article was that I think the Raiders secondary would benefit
from more zone coverage’s. Yes the DT position needs additions, but the
entire defense needs to improve.

I think the Raiders defensive problems come more from a personnel stand point. Particularly the defensive tackle position.Ted Washington retired, Warren Sapp is old, Terdell Sands barely plays, and Tyler Brayton is too small. Right now Gerard Warren is the best DT on the team, and he is just an average player that has bounced around the league.I think Oakland should focus on getting a big physical defensive tackle that will eat up blockers with their top pick. This will allow those talented linebackers to fill their gaps, and tackle the ball carrier better. It will make everybody on the defense better.
