Tom Cable is running an old school training camp

There are coaches and there are football coaches.

Tom Cable is the latter.

He’s trying to take his team off of the course plotted by the Los Angeles Clippers and back to the tradition of the Raider way.

The Raiders released the times of their practices for the first week of training camp. The first four days of camp will be grueling double sessions starting at 8:30am and resuming at 4:20pm.

Players are scheduled to report on Tuesday, July 28th, with the first of the double sessions to begin on Thursday, July 30th.

Cable gained the respect of the locker room in 2008 because of his honest everyman approach. His old school tactics of preparing the players for the 2009 regular season keeps in step with everything his tenure has been about thus far.

There are no scholarships and no excuses. Playing time will be the reward of hard work as men are made in the summer heat of Napa.

Before his team reports, there are cuts to be made and rookie contracts to be negotiated. Just know that by the time 53 Raiders pose for a team picture, that each of them will have earned the to right to have a silver number on a black jersey.
