The Big Gradkowski recaps the Raiders’ victory over the Cowboys

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders, Recaps | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Bruce Gradkowski helped lead the Oakland Raiders to a 31-10 defeat of the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener last night. He was kind enough to give JBB an interview. Just Blog Baby: Congrats on the win tonight, Bruce. Bruce Gradkowski: Oh, hey man. Just call me The Dude. Ya know, on the field I’m The Big Gradkowski. Off the field, I’m just The Dude, or His Dudeness or El Duderino, if you’re not, like, into the whole brevity thing. JBB: Right on, Dude. So, what did you think of the performance tonight? BG: Well, we won, so, yeah…that’s a [...]

Raiders and Cowboys: A preseason appetizer for a Thanksgiving feast

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, Raiders | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We’re counting down the hours until the Oakland Raiders take the field for the first time in 2009. Tonight, the Dallas Cowboys come to town to renew one of the better preseason rivalries in the NFL, if such a thing exists. From 1992 to 2004, the Raiders and Cowboys faced off during the preseason. Since the Cowboys would train in Oxnard, California, it was also common for the two teams to scrimmage as well. Tempers would run hot as the scrimmage games always would have a few brawls and the preseason games themselves tended to be entertaining as well. For [...]

Is Terdell Sands not a part of John Marshall’s plan?

AUTHOR: | IN: Camp Reports, Raiders, Roster | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Yesterday, the Oakland Raiders officially released their unofficial depth chart. While the folks at Pro Football Talk have clearly been hitting the snooze on their coverage of the Oakland training camp, astute Raider fans noticed that of the six defensive tackles listed on the depth chart not one of them has ever punched Shane Lechler. In short, one Terdell Sands was noticeably absent. SF Chronicle writer David White has been detailing training camp via his Twitter page and he’s been very unimpressed with the way Sands has performed. Terdell Sands getting stood up a ton, all chest-up and no angle on [...]

Raiders trade Burgess to Pats for future picks

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders, Trades | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pro Football Talk’s Gregg Rosenthal reports that the Oakland Raiders have once again traded with the New England Patriots. This time the Raiders have dealt hold out defensive end Derrick Burgess to the Northeast. The Raiders are reported to have received a third round pick in 2010 and a fifth round pick in 2011. Now that Burgess is behind the shield of the Hoodie, you can expect all those “scouting videos” he’s sure to watch to return his production to the level it was four years ago. Yeah and I’m sure that Andrew Walter is going to be the Matt [...]

A Day of Firsts for Raiders: First Injury, First Fight and First Fumble of Camp

AUTHOR: | IN: Camp Reports, Raiders | COMMENTS: None Yet

On the calendar, Wednesday was the third day of full contact drills for the Oakland Raiders but on the field it looks likes things are just getting started. Michael Mitchell’s first big hit was the highlight of Tuesday’s session, but it was just a warning shot for what would follow today. The team got word today that Khalif Barnes has suffered the first serious injury of training camp. The MRI revealed a broken fubula suffered on Tuesday. Mario Henderson’s name can be written in ink for the starting left tackle job now that Barnes is out 6-8 weeks with a broken ankle. Now [...]
