Raider Nation should dust off those #22 jerseys in their closets. Kick return specialist Justin Miller is back in Silver and Black.
Howard was the first to report the story.
The Raiders have yet to announce the roster move. Of course, there is no telling how long it will take to get the news posted on Raiders.com. According to the official website of the Raiders, starting cornerback Chris Johnson still has yet to be re-signed.
Justin Miller was cut loose in favor of Nick Miller who made the team as an undrafted free agent out of camp. Nick’s absence in the return game due to injury has hindered the starting field position for Tom Cable’s offense.
Justin did not impress with his coverage skills (or lack thereof) in the preseason.
Between Louis Rankin and Jonathan Holland, the Raiders have averaged just 19.3 yards per return far below the 24.8 yards averaged by Justin Miller in 2008.
Justin Miller also took two kicks to the house in ’08 as part of the lethal return game employed by the Raiders.
Rankin has since been released and David White of the Chronicle speculates that Holland will be placed on IR with an elbow injury to make room for Miller’s return.
