Show of hands; how many people had Cedric Benson as a better fantasy player than Larry Johnson three years ago? Even NFL Films cannot spin the 0-16 Detroit Lions – If the Lions went o-16 in 2008 then NFL Films didn’t know it. In fact it looks like the historic season in the “D” might just have been skipped by Steve Sabol all together. Unlocking the Mysteries of the [...]
From the Diary of Al Davis: Seymour Watch, Day Three
The following is an entry in the diary of Al Davis. Seymour Watch, Day Three: Three days ago I called up an old friend in Massachusetts to inquire about a trade. In less than an hour we had a gentlemen’s agreement: I was to procure the services of one defensive lineman named Richard Seymour in exchange my friend in the Northeast received a first round draft choice. Here we are, three days later and I have yet to see Mr. Seymour show his face in Oakland, California. I thought my old buddy was doing me a favor. I assumed that [...]
Trading for Richard Seymour is Vintage Al Davis
Al Davis has been called many things over the years. One adjective you’ll never see used to describe the iconic owner of the Oakland Raiders is gun-shy. For a man who lives by the motto of “Just Win Baby” victories have been few and far between over the last six years. That doesn’t mean that it is not for lack of effort on the part of Mr. Davis. If nothing else, his biggest fault has been having the patience of a toddler staring at a Pop Tart in the toaster oven. He wants to win and he wants to win [...]

Raiders acquire Richard Seymour from the Patriots
The on-going inside trading between the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots has finally benefited the Silver and Black. According to reports, the Raiders have acquired 5-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Richard Seymour from the Pats in exchange for a first round pick. Some have already begun to speculate that Seymour will return to his original position of defensive tackle in the Raiders’ 4-3 scheme after having played the last few years as an end in the 3-4 alignment in New England. Not willing to sit back and watch his team continue to struggle against the run, Al Davis has [...]
Jeff Garcia and 21 other Raiders who could be cut
Jeff Garcia was supposed to be the old, wily vet who was going to come in and show the youngster JaMarcus Russell a few tricks of the trade he’s picked up along the way. Instead, about all Garcia has done is make Russell fell uncomfortable every time he walks into the locker room sporting leather pants. Garcia sat out almost all of training camp with a calf injury and when he has played in the preseason he’s turned every play into a fire drill. Based on his performances, it seems like he couldn’t even execute a simple handoff to Darren [...]

Tomorrow the Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks will meet in the final preseason game, renewing an old AFC West rivalry, reuniting a couple former coaches with their previous employers and giving 22 players their last chance to make the roster. Once the game concludes, the business at had will be to drop the total of 75 players down to the opening day total of 53. While the game is primarily about the players trying to avoid being dropped, the subplot revolves around John Marshall and Greg Knapp. Marshall’s defense will be pitted against Knapp’s offense in a battle between two [...]

Not that Raider Nation needed any further proof that Nnamdi Asomugha is the most dedicated man to wear the Silver and Black since Rich Gannon, but the All-Galaxy cornerback wanted to make sure fans in the Black Hole will get to see the highest paid DB in league history on opening night. After reports this morning circulated stating that Asomugha was at risk to miss the Monday Night opener against the San Diego Chargers, Nnamdi took it upon himself to let the world know otherwise. I’ll be fine for the San Diego game. I’ll play in the opener, no problem. [...]
