According to reports, the Oakland Raiders are set to re-sign Langston Walker today. Walker was given a tryout last week after Cornell Green suffered a calf injury, missing the destruction in East Rutherford on Sunday.
Walker, an Oakland native, was originally selected in the second round out of Cal Berkeley by the Raiders back in 2002. Perhaps his best moment in Silver and Black came in 2004 when Walker blocked a late field goal attempt in Denver to salvage a dramatic victory in game played in a blizzard.
Walker’s arrival was rumored last week but it didn’t seem he would be a good fit in the Zone Blocking Scheme employed by Tom Cable. After watching Eric Pears get abused by the Giants’ D-line, action needed to be taken.
While Walker will help to bolster the depth on the O-line, one can’t help but wonder: What about Khalif Barnes?
