Randy Hanson Spills the Beans
Former Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson has given Yahoo! Sports a detailed account of the events that occurred on August 5th in Napa, California. On that evening, Hanson claims to have been assaulted by head coach Tom Cable. “From my blindside, Tom Cable threw me from my chair and into a piece of furniture that a lamp sat upon,” Hanson told Yahoo! Sports Friday during an extensive interview at a Bay Area restaurant. “He was screaming, ‘I’ll f——- kill you! I’ll f——- kill you!’ And I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t have killed me if they hadn’t pulled [...]
The likelihood of the Oakland Raiders beating the New York Giants this Sunday seems about as plausible as Norv Turner winning coach of the year. There is really no reason to think the Raiders have any chance against the Giants with or out without Eli Manning. The O-line is turning into a MASH unit being held together by bubble wrap. The running game couldn’t even reach the half century mark in yardage against the NFL’s worst run defense. JaMarcus Russell’s completion percentage is only flattering when compared to three-point percentages in the NBA. Oh and Tom Cable could be either arrested, [...]

The Raider Roster Carousel Continues to Spin
Round and round we go! With each passing day a former Raider becomes a Raider again and a current Raider becomes a former Raider…again. Justin Miller was released by the Raiders to make room for running back Gary Russell who was added to the active roster today. The irony is that both Miller and Russell were among the final 22 Raiders cut on the last day of roster trimming. Louis Rankin made the final cut ahead of Russell on the strength of a great performance in the final preseason game in Seattle. After Nick Miller’s shin splint turned out to be a stress fracture, Rankin [...]
Al Davis is on thin ice with Raider Nation
By the time John Herrera finishes reading this, I have no doubt my name will be listed alongside that of Rich Gannon as banned from the Oakland Coliseum. Of course, Al Davis would be doing me and my wallet a favor by keeping me out of his house of football pain. My support for the Silver and Black will never change. I will always spend my Sundays in the fall cheering on my team, for better or for worse. For my words, I’ll be praised by Raider Haters and bashed by Raider faithful. However, just because I support the Raiders [...]
When it rains it pours and right about now you’d need a rubber raft to weather the monsoon in Oakland. Jerry McDonald has reported that the Raiders are to be without second year running back turned tackling dummy Darren McFadden for the next 2 to 4 weeks. Run DMC is going to need surgery for a meniscus tear. McFadden’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time as the Raiders are preparing to enter the toughest stretch of their 2009 schedule. Given the manner in which the Raiders have run the ball lately, it is not a crushing blow but [...]
If you’re going to be bad, then it is best to be epically terrible. At least that seems to be the goal of Tom Cable and the akland Raiders in 2009. That is not a misprint. Cable’s offense is so horrendously ineffective that he has taken the “O” out of Oakland. The akland Raiders went down without any fight at all in a 29-6 loss to the Houston Texans. Against the NFL’s worst run defense, the Raiders rushing attacked netted a grand total of 45 yards on 22 attempts. The only time a man in a Raider jersey has found the [...]
Raiders look to run rampant on Texans
After Sunday there will be no more excuses. Tom Cable has given JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden every opportunity to prove themselves in 2009. Now it is up to Russell and Run-DMC to repay their coach for his undying faith. If the Raiders are going to get this runaway train wreck of a decade back on track then it must start with the opening kick on Sunday afternoon. There could not be a more perfect scenario for the struggling youngsters of the Raiders offense than a trip to Houston where the NFL’s worst defense awaits. Cable’s offense is predicated on the run [...]
Randy Moss Trade Comes Full Circle
The final connection to the Randy Moss era in the East Bay is gone. Yesterday the Oakland Raiders placed cornerback John Bowie on waivers. Today he cleared waivers allowing the Raiders to place Bowie on IR for the remainder of the season. Bowie will forever be known as the man the Raiders drafted with the 4th round pick acquired from the Patriots back in 2007 in exchange for Randy Moss. Bowie has been plagued with injuries and when he has played his performance has been less than impressive. Already the Moss for Bowie deal is being placed in the discussion for [...]
