Victory just hasn’t been as sweet for Robert Gallery in 2009.
The dominating left guard broke his fibula during the Raiders’ 13-10 victory in Kansas City forcing Gallery out of action for more than a month. While his teammates celebrated the 27-24 win in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Gallery was on the sideline with an injured back.
Today, the extent of his injury was learned. Gallery has a lower back strain that will require season ending surgery.
This is just the latest in what has been an unfortunate string of incidents for Gallery in ’09. It all began with his emergency appendectomy back in July that forced him to miss the first two weeks of training camp.
As the saying goes: If weren’t for bad luck, Robert Gallery would have none at all these days.
Once again Chris Morris will be called into action. Depending on the health of starting center Samson Satele, Morris will either see time at guard or center.
With wins in two of the last three games, the Raiders are gaining some late season momentum. Gallery’s absence is a crushing blow for a line that has dealt with injuries all year.
