Video: Louis Murphy Goes 75-Yards to Paydirt

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Louis Murphy is proving to be a big play receiver in his rookie season. The 4th round pick out of Florida announced himself to the NFL by being on the receiving end of a 4th down bomb from JaMarcus Russell on opening night. On Sunday, he made sure the heartbroken fans that filled Heinz Field would never forget his name. Murphy found the end zone twice against the Steelers. His second one was an 11-yard TD that gave the Raiders the lead once and for all, leaving only enough time for the Steelers to go Bon Jovi and live on a [...]

Steelers’ Playoff Hopes Get Gradkowski’d

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders, Recaps | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

After watching the Oakland Raiders deflate Heinz Field with a come from behind 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, a few things became abundantly clear. To begin with, it is more than obvious that JaMarcus Russell has been holding the Silver and Black offense hostage. Sine Bruce Gradkowski took the reigns; the Raiders have won two of his three starts with both victories coming against the first place Cincinnati Bengals and the defending champion Steelers respectively. Not to mention the fact that Tom Cable now feels comfortable enough to call halfback options and ridiculous trick plays with Gradkowski under center. [...]

Raiders need to play likes it’s 2006 to beat Steelers

AUTHOR: | IN: Preview, Raiders | COMMENTS: None Yet

It seems like ages ago that Art Shell was patrolling the sidelines in the East Bay during his second tour of duty with the Oakland Raiders. Shell’s lone year on the comeback trail netted just two wins and a total of 168 points for an entire 16 game season. Those two wins came in succession with a stunning 20-13 victory over the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers. It took two defensive touchdowns to defeat the Steelers in Oakland that Sunday afternoon. The offense never found the end zone which was a common theme during the Tom Walsh error era. Here we [...]

In preparation for Pittsburgh this week, Tom Cable decided to meet up with Art Shell. Since Shell was the last head coach of the Raiders to beat the Steelers, Cable sought his counsel.   Through anonymous sources, JBB was able to attain a transcript of their conversation. Tom Cable: Coach Shell, thanks for taking the time to meet with me. Art Shell: Anything to help the Raiders beat those Steelers! TC: That’s the spirit! AS: So, what can I do for you? TC: Well, back in ’06 you were in the same boat I’m currently in while preparing for the Steelers [...]

Raider Fans Among Semi-Finalists in NFL’s Fanatical Family Contest

AUTHOR: | IN: Raider Nation, Raiders | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The NFL and Frito Lay have teamed up for the Calling All Families competition which is a nationwide search to find the most fanatical NFL family in the country. Among the 8 semi-finalists chosen are a group of brothers from the East Coast who just happen to be diehard fans of the Silver and Black. With your help, Robert Hurlbert and his three brothers could win a VIP trip to the Super Bowl. You can watch Robert and his brothers in action here. These guys are serious. They’re not the type to just watch midnight replays on NFL.com to keep up with the Raiders. They [...]

Billboard begs Al Davis to hire a GM

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As if all the empty seats at the coliseum on Sundays weren’t enough of a sign that Raider Nation is displeased. Now there actually is a sign begging Al Davis to do something drastic – hire a general manager. MessageToAl.com has been planning for sometime to erect a billboard near the Coliseum voicing the anger many Raider fans feel towards the team’s much maligned owner. In addition to the billboard, there are petitions on the site that have collected over 20,000 signatures. Included in the petitions are the requests of the fans for the Raiders to hire a GM with [...]
