Al Davis Readies His Checkbook
The official NFL franchise and transitional tag numbers for 2010 have been released and all signs indicate another off-season of multi-million dollar checks being cut by Al Davis. Between Richard Seymour and Sebastian Janikowski, Mr. Davis would have to commit more than $15 million in salary for 2010 alone if he is unable to sign both prized free agents to new deals. Seymour would earn $12.398 million as a franchise tagged defensive end while Janikowski’s mega leg is valued at $2.814 million. If Davis wants to get Seabass under contract then he’s going to have to show him Shane Lechler [...]
The Pre-Pro Bowl Link Dump
7 Events That Should Replace the Pro Bowl – Let me see, watch the Pro Bowl or go to the dunk-a-kicker booth? That’s an easy choice for me, though I suggest getting there early. Just imagine how long the line would be to dunk an idiot kicker. Although if it’s Sebastian Janikowski then all bets are off, I don’t want him coming after me. Saints and the City: “The Soul of New Orleans” – Enjoy this now before it is played every five minutes during Super Bowl week. Although, I have to admit, even after the 5 millionth replay, I’ll still [...]
Sebastian Janikowski Gets Second Pro Bowl Snub
Nate Kaeding, the “mentally weak” All-Pro place kicker for the San Diego Chargers, has pulled out of the Pro Bowl due to a groin injury. His roster spot will be filled by Dan Carpenter of the Miami Dolphins. Once again, Sebastian Janikowski has been over looked. From a distance, Carpenter’s numbers look good but when compared to Janikowski’s, there is a striking difference in class. Carpenter, like Seabass, only missed three field goals all year long. However, upon closer examination, you’ll notice that Carpenter’s longest make of the year was 52 yards – a mere chip shot for Janikowski. Carpenter attempted [...]
Hue Jackson is a Perfect fit for Raiders
Don’t confuse him with Wolverine even though he will be heading up the Weapon X Project for the Oakland Raiders in 2010. The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Hue Jackson has agreed to become the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders. While the new hiring has yet to be made official by the organization, Jackson himself has confirmed the story with the following statement. “After much consideration I have decided to accept a position as offensive Coordinator with the Oakland Raiders.” Jackson’s hiring would appear to be a perfect fit for the Raiders in many ways. The L.A. native was [...]
If Tom Cable stays, Al Davis owes him all of 2010
The Raider Rumor Carousel continues to spin, causing constant nausea among Raider Nation and turning journalists into dogs chasing their own tails. Tom Cable will be fired. Al Davis is interviewing replacements. No, wait. Forget all that… Tom Cable will remain as head coach in 2010. Adam Schefter was among the first to report Cable would be fired. Now he is among the first to report Cable will be retained. Who knows what the truth is? Only Al Davis does. If the rumors of Cable’s job retention are true, then I have but one request of Mr. Davis: Give Cable [...]
Report: Raiders Re-Hire Mike Waufle
Though the Raiders have yet to announce it, Adam Schefter is reporting the hiring of Mike Waufle as the new defensive line coach in the East Bay. Waufle held the same position with the Raiders from 1998-2003 before spending the last five seasons with the New York Giants. While the hire has yet to be made official, it does raise a few questions. To begin with, one must wonder what this means to current D-line coach Dwaine Board. Will he be relieved of his duties or simply reassigned? Board came to the Raiders from Seattle along with current defensive coordinator [...]

Jim Harbaugh Was Never an Option for Oakland
Despite reports to the contrary, Stanford head coach Jim Harbuagh was never interviewed by Al Davis for any position in the Raiders’ organization. Joe Fortenbaugh of the National Football Post quotes Jack Bechtha, Harbaugh’s agent, in his report. “There is no truth to the rumors that Jim Harbaugh or I have met with the Raiders,” Bechta said. “Further, Jim has not interviewed with nor been offered the head coaching job of the Oakland Raiders. Jim and Al [Davis] have a very special relationship full of mutual respect. However, the rumors circulating are absolutely false.” This news comes on the heels [...]
Al Davis Seeks His Next Ex-Coach
The San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune and ESPN are all reporting stories of Al Davis interviewing potential candidates to either replace Tom Cable or to join his staff should Cable remain head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2010. Despite gaining the support of the locker room and seeing the team’s offense vastly improve in the wake of benching JaMarcus Russell, Cable could be shown the exit. That’s not news at all. Since Jon Gruden’s departure, Davis has changed coaches more often than Kirstie Alley has changed dress sizes. Continuity is a dirty word around Raider headquarters these days. What [...]
Nnamdi Asomugha thinks Tom Cable is a “Con” Artist
This morning, All-Universe cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha participated in the roundtable discussion segment known as 1st and 10 on ESPN’s First Take. As you might expect, the panel picked his brain on everything from LeBron James ditching the dunk contest to who is the best cornerback in the NFL. To the surprise of none, Aso took that talking gas bag, Skip Bayless, behind the woodshed as he broke down all the reasons why #21 is better than Darrelle Revis. While Nnamdi didn’t out right say he is better, he made a strong case for anybody who has ever played on the [...]
