Apparently a source close to Al Davis told the Oakland Tribune that Al is prepared to fire Cable on the grounds that Cable did not score enough points with an offense that he was responsible for and on the gorunds that he didn't try to develop JaMarcus Russell past week nine of the season.
What a Catch-22.

I like Cable, I defended Russell as well this year, but he needs a fire lit under him. I would have thought that being benched would do it, obviously not! A GM would be nice, I think we need to fire the WR coach, and hire a new one, and we definitely need to hire an offensive coordinator. There is enough talent on this team to compete, we could turn it around!!

I'm with you when it comes down to keeping Coach Cable at the helm. He's shown that when he's got the right guys in there and they're on the same page, he can get them to play with the best teams in the NFL. If they try to get a new coach in there, it might just revert them back to St. Louis Rams or Detroit Lions status and put them back in a hole they won't be able to climb out of.

I was one of the few people who wanted to give JaMarcus Russell chance after chance to do better. Even I got sick of his lack of passion and skill set for the game. He doesn't care if he wins or not, and NO TEAM needs that type of player running their huddle. It was like night and day when Gradkowski and Frye replaced him! Russell should be cut from the team and fall into NFL bust obscurity like Ryan Leaf!

One thing I hope for this offseason is that Al Davis comes to his senses and hires a GM. Until that day, or until Mr. Davis dies, I really think that MY team will remain mediocre, and that's really upsetting!
