Though the Raiders have yet to announce it, Adam Schefter is reporting the hiring of Mike Waufle as the new defensive line coach in the East Bay.
Waufle held the same position with the Raiders from 1998-2003 before spending the last five seasons with the New York Giants.
While the hire has yet to be made official, it does raise a few questions. To begin with, one must wonder what this means to current D-line coach Dwaine Board. Will he be relieved of his duties or simply reassigned? Board came to the Raiders from Seattle along with current defensive coordinator John Marshall. Does this personnel move indicate the possibility of the Raiders seeking to replace Marshall as well?
Perhaps that is just reading too much into re-hiring of Waufle.
Then again, with the insane amount of coaching rumors that have been swirling around Alameda this week, it would seem that anything is possible and nothing can be ruled out.
In other news, Tom Cable has made it through another week as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
