Randy Hanson takes Tom Cable, Raiders to court

After the Napa district attorney decided that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Tom Cable on assault charges, most assumed they’d heard the last of Randy Hanson and his broken jaw.

Surprise!

He’s back and this time it’s personal!

Various outlets are reporting that Hanson has filed a lawsuit in Alameda County against Cable and the Oakland Raiders for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

All while he’s still employed by the Raiders, mind you.

It must have been very difficult for Hanson to collect all those checks for all these months while continuing to work in such an “emotionally distressful” environment. Hanson claims that after Cable was appointed head coach he told Randy”, If I could fire you, I would”.

Meanwhile, Al Davis has seen his chickens come home to roost as one of his own lackeys is now going against the family. Just another chapter in the book that Al wrote I suppose.

While I don’t support the intentional infliction of emotional distress in the workplace, I do appreciate that this is professional football – a business unlike any other. Hanson, if you think you work in an “emotionally distressful” environment then cry JaMarcus Russell a river. Why don’t you ask him what an emotionally distressful environment feels like? But I guess hearing 50,000+ people chant “you suck” and “put in Gradkowski” doesn’t count as an intentional infliction of emotional distress, right?
