We’re mere hours away from the draft and already the kettle of rumors is nearing its boiling point. With the speculations of Ben Roethlisberger heading to Oakland still alive and well in the rumor mill, now comes word of the Raiders dangling Darren McFadden on the open market.
ESPN analyst and enemy of the Al Davis State, Chris Mortensen, has stated that McFadden’s first two disappointing years in the East Bay could be his last. Run-DMC is the latest name to surface as trade bait on the Raiders roster. Upon the completion of the regular season word began to spread that Mr. Davis was ready to conduct a fire sale and was even willing to part ways with All-Galaxy corner Nnamdi Asomugha.
To date the Raiders have made two trades this off-season. Both of which were made to acquire defensive players and both of which involved dealing draft picks.
While McFadden has but one 100-yard game in his brief career, injuries and an unimaginative offensive scheme have severely limited his production. Giving up on him this soon would be foolish. Then again we are talking about a front office that continues to give JaMarcus Russell the benefit of the doubt.
Whatever the case, get used to hearing more discussion of trades ad nauseam.
