As I posted yesterday, Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports is ranking all the NFL teams by position. I went back and looked at a couple of his previous rankings and saw that Cole ranks Oakland’s offensive line the worst in the NFL.
Here is what Cole had to say:
32. Oakland Raiders:Wow, this is bad. Mario Henderson and Cornell Green shouldn’t be the answers to: “Name the Raiders starting offensive tackles from 2009.” Yikes. It doesn’t get much better in the middle and the sad part is that the Raiders didn’t do much to upgrade the personnel this offseason. Say a prayer for Jason Campbell. He’s going to need it.
I figured the Raiders would rank low in this area but the league’s worst unit? I disagree. I’m not saying the pass protection was great in 2009 but one has to remember that having JaMarcus Russell under center for most of the season didn’t help matters.
In my opinion, the Chiefs and Rams have bigger problems to fix along their offensive lines. The Chiefs, in particular, had the worst unit I saw all last season.
The Raiders obviously need to improve along the offensive front in 2010 for the offense to be successful but I disagree with Cole that it’s the NFL’s worst.
