With training camp nearing the Raiders are beginning to bring their newest members into the fold. Today, the team announced that Walter McFadden – a cornerback drafted in the 5th round out of Auburn – has signed his rookie deal.
McFadden’s signing comes on the heels of the Raiders reaching agreements with rookie offensive linemen Jared Veldheer and Bruce Campbell. According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, McFadden inked a 4-year deal with a base value just a shade under $2-million.
Walter, the younger sibling of Pittsburgh Steelers DB Bryant McFadden, has been pegged by many as another late round gem unearthed by the Raiders scouting department. His coverage skills and Raider speed will give McFadden every opportunity to compete as a nickel corner in John Marshall’s scheme.
