The Oakland Raiders reached a contract agreement with rookie cornerback Walter McFadden on Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
McFadden was a second-team all-SEC pick last season at Auburn after recording six interceptions. He had two interceptions in the Outback Bowl against Northwestern, returning one of them 100 yards for a touchdown.
McFadden is the third of Oakland’s nine draft picks to sign a contract. The Raiders inked offensive linemen Bruce Campbell and Jared Veldheer last week.
Oakland still needs to come to terms with its top two picks: first-rounder Rolando McClain and second-rounder Lamarr Houston.
I have made no secret of my love for McFadden. Last week, I wrote that McFadden was one of three Raiders I’m looking forward to seeing once training camp kicks off.
In my opinion, the playmaking McFadden will make a great addition to Oakland’s ever-improving secondary.
