Michael Bush Makes Push to Play in Opener

As it turns out, Darren McFadden might not see the bulk of the carries against the Tennessee Titans. Yesterday, Tom Cable announced that Michael Bush and his broken thumb are on track to play in the season opener. In fact, Cable never thought Bush wasn’t going to play.

“First of all, I didn’t know Michael Bush was out. But if Darren is playing, we have high expectations for him as well as Mike.”

Bush has been running with the first squad during the preseason and though he might not start Sunday he could see action according to Cable.

If Bush is healthy I say let him run. However, with a long road ahead and an almost certainty that other injury issues will arise (over/under week 3 for Darren McFadden) it might be prudent not to over work Bush this early in the season.

Without a doubt Bush is the best option to lineup behind Jason Campbell. But the last thing this team needs is to see Bush beaten and battered ala Justin Fargas while nursing a nagging injury.
