What a wild ride it’s been for Jason Campbell and we’re only five weeks into the season. On Wednesday Campbell toyed with the media a little as he gave some very non-descript answers when asked if he’d be the starting quarterback.
Insert generic quarterback quote here.
JC knows not to get his hope up too high. Given Bruce Gradkowski’s nature it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume he might pull a Willis Reed and come charging onto the field moments before the opening kick to again take Campbell’s job.
No matter what, this is a good conundrum for Tom Cable to find himself in. Campbell’s heroics helped the Raiders to end a 13-game slide against the Chargers. Perhaps his new found confidence will carry across the Bay as the Raiders take on the 49ers.
All things being considered, Cable has an embarrassment of riches when compared to the outright embarrassment he had in camp last year. Needless to say, choosing between Jason Campbell and Bruce Gradkowski is infinitely better than having to pick between JaMarcus Russell and…well…need I say more than that?
