Jeremy Ware > Walter McFadden
This isn’t fair and I know it. My goal is not to do Walter McFadden like folks in Idaho are doing Kyle Brotzman right about now. I’m just stating my belief that Jeremy Ware was unfairly deactivated at the wrong time. No, McFadden’s poor play on Sunday was not the only reason why the Raiders got demolished by the Dolphins. A non-existent running game, terrible quarterback play and Michael Huff taking worse angles than a NASCAR driver having a stroke mid-race shared as much of the blame. Chad Henne knew Nnamdi Asomugha was going to be limping around the field [...]
The End of the Gradkowski Era?
On a meaningless play in a game in which the outcome was already decided, Tom Cable’s contrived quarterback carousel came to a halt. After sustaining yet another injury to his continually damaged shoulder, Bruce Gradkowski underwent an MRI on Monday and is now rumored to be done for the rest of the season…again. This marks two years a row that Bruce Almighty has seen his season cut short. It also marks the second consecutive year in which Coach Cable has, supposedly, battled with Al Davis over who should be the starting QB. While last year was a first round knock [...]
The time has come for Tom Cable to take the plunge. He might not want to bend to the will of Al Davis but after Sunday he’s got no choice. Bruce Gradkowski is not the answer. Jason Campbell might not be the solution either but he’s the better option. Don’t take my word for it, though. Check the stats. Campbell has more wins, a better QB rating and can make all the throws. While Gradkowski has had moments of genius, his overall body of work just doesn’t merit more playing time. I was the first to call for Campbell’s benching [...]
The Second Coming of “Rocket” Ismail
Notice DHB on the side lines……. (photo by yardbarker.com) As I was watching the game a few weeks ago when Jacoby Ford single handedly owned, rented and sold the Chiefs, it reminded me of a past Raider named Raghib Ismail, a.k.a. “Rocket”. Both are built about the same going 5 foot something and 180 lbs. Jocoby launches across the field like he is shot out of a cannon. Rocket used to burst across the field similar to a silver and black scud missile. Jacoby has crazy (Al Davis Raider) speed and has a grittiness that we need at the WR position. Jacoby has [...]
Tom Cable, this loss is on you. Your team wasn’t prepared to play the Miami Dolphins. You went with Bruce Gradkowski and stubbornly stuck with him. Worst of all is that you just might have cost your team the chance at a playoff birth. Check the schedule and you’ll see that from here out it is a tough road ahead. Therefore, it was mandatory that the Raiders notch a W over the Dolphins. Well, so much for that as a team minus its best threat in the passing game still managed to rack up over 300 yards passing. The end result [...]
Tom Cable Pulls a Switcheroo Starts Gradkowski
If you’re playing quarterback for Tom Cable then you know not to get too comfortable. Since becoming the head coach of the Raiders Cable has rotated signal callers like running backs. This week was no exception as Cable initially said he was staying the course with Jason Campbell only to later name Bruce Gradkowski the starter. Well, he didn’t outright name Bruce Almighty the starter. That news leaked via an anonymous team source and was later confirmed by Chron beat writer Vittorio Tafur.

Raiders in a Must-Win against Dolphins
There are many similarities shared between the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins. Both share the same 5-5 records. Both have serious concerns at quarterback. But most important of all is that both cannot afford a loss on Sunday. What makes the situation different between these two is that the Raiders are still chasing a division title. Whereas Miami is trying to keep any wildcard hopes alive for another week. Coming off a demoralizing loss in Pittsburgh hasn’t put a damper on these Raiders. That is the biggest difference seen under Tom Cable. Hardly anything seems to disturb the consistent demeanor [...]
Gone Fishing ….
(Photo by yardbarker.com) What is the key to the Raiders beating the Miami Dolphins this weekend? The key is the Raiders defense! Up until last week , our defense was ranked number TWO against the pass. The Raiders run defense however was ranked 20 something against the run. Guess what Miami likes to do, run Forest run. The recipe to the winning this game against Miami is stopping their run game. The Radiers defense needs to turn the “Wild Cat” into the “Talking Tom” cat on my iPhone 4……. Annoying and accomplishing nothing. The Dolphins will not be able to stop the Raiders run game. [...]
