It’s getting to the point where you can set your watch to Jacoby Ford making spectacular plays and winning individual awards. Just a few weeks back Ford burst onto the scene with his demolition of the Chiefs. That performance earned him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. While that performance was a surprise, what he’s done since has been a revelation.
The fourth round pick from Clemson is no longer flying under the radar. Not after two kick return TDs, one receiving touch and a handful of spectacular catches in a four week span. For his efforts, Ford was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
Last Sunday Ford made history by becoming the first Raider to ever take the opening kick to the house. Proving that there is more to his game than that Raider Speed, Ford is also turning heads in the passing game. Just check that sick over the shoulder grab and sprint to the end zone not to mention his clutch grabs against Kansas City and Miami as evidence.
At this rate, we’ll be calling Ford the AFC Player of the Month – never mind special teams – come the end of December.
Congrats to Jacoby! He’s certainly been carrying the load as the Raiders rediscover their form.
