The pride of Josh McDaniels will be on display prominently this Sunday in Oakland. It looks like Tim Tebow will be making the first start of his NFL career. Just how the Broncos use their rookie QB remains to be seen.
While Denver figures to make some use of the wildcat, Tom Cable isn’t expecting the offense to change drastically.
“If he’s going to play as much as I think he is, he’s going to have to play like a regular quarterback in a regular offense.’’
A move like this is all or nothing for Denver who’s playing with nothing to lose at this point. Having to prepare for both Kyle Orton then also get ready for Tebow is something the Raiders certainly had to have done. Orton hasn’t practiced all week and it seemed very unlikely he’d play.
Louis Murphy did a couple years with Touchdown Jesus in the Swap so he could provide a little insight as to what to expect. But all that is college stuff. Much different game here in the pros. One thing the Raiders can’t do is allow the Broncos to run the rock. If there’s anything any rookie QB needs it a running game and given Tebow’s skill set he’s capable of moving the chains all by himself.
This is one of those moves that will either create a spark or will blow up in the face of the Donkeys. Oakland can’t relax with this news. They still need to go out and beat this dead horse just the same. The last thing we want is for Tebow to be know as a Raider killer.
