Raiders Add Punter to Practice Squad

Needing an insurance policy in case Shane Lechler can’t go Sunday, the Raiders signed punter Danny Baugher from the UFL. As of now, Baugher has been placed on the practice squad leaving the Raiders with options should they need to activate him at the last minute in case Shane is a no-go.

Baugher was leading the UFL in punting while playing for the Las Vegas Locomotives. The former Arizona Wildcat was a finalist for the Ray Guy award as a senior and has bounced around the league over the years. Though he’s been on the roster of 6 different NFL teams now, he’s never punted in a game nor has he been on the active roster.

As stated yesterday, the Raiders need Shane now more than ever in their playoff push. If he can’t go and Baugher is activated all is not lost but it is a definite void that is nearly impossible to fill. Lechler’s booming kicks could prove invaluable in helping to defend against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis offense.
