Marcus Allen + Bo Jackson = Darren McFadden

AUTHOR: | IN: Darren McFadden | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

What I’m about to say is incomprehensible. After it is all said and done, Darren McFadden could be the best running back to ever wear Silver and Black. Now, I grew up watching Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson. Since their careers ended I’ve never seen any running back with the speed and grace of Allen. Nor have I witnessed the pure power and unrivaled athletic ability of Jackson. I’m here to tell you that Run DMC has everything both aforementioned men had and then some. Let me first start by saying that I think Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete [...]

What The Fluke?

AUTHOR: | IN: Darren McFadden, Jacoby Ford, Raider Nation, Raiders, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I don’t know but for some reason, I’m the “cup is half full” guy this season.  As far as I’m concerned, the Jacksonville Jaguars win this weekend was a fluke.  Minus a fluke kickoff return and a fluke run by Maurice Jones-Drew and we had a win.  Darren McFadden was in “Beast Mode” (Over 200 all purpose yards and 3 TD’s).  Jason Campbell looked great when he wasn’t passing from his hip with a “D” lineman laying on him.  (Campbell was 11 of 14 for 204 yards, two touchdowns and a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in the first half) [...]

Necessity Makes For Some Strange Bed Fellows

AUTHOR: | IN: Raider Nation | COMMENTS: None Yet

Gulp! This is difficult for me to even write let alone do. As a lifelong member of Raider Nation my Sundays are spent cheering for the Silver and Black. Under no other circumstances do I ever root for another team. Sure, I love to watch the likes of the Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs and Cowboys lose. But I don’t openly root for their opponent. However, given the circumstances surrounding the Raiders’ playoff hopes, I’m being painted into a corner. Last Sunday I had to swallow my pride and support the Chargers in their demolition of the Chiefs. I’m afraid the stench [...]

Hello Dysfunction, My Old Friend

AUTHOR: | IN: Commentary | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Funny how this game is played. Not talking about the one on the field though. No, we’re talking about the games played off the field. More to the point, the games played by the national media. When the Raiders began the season by losing two of three, the rumors of a rift between Tom Cable and Hue Jackson were the early headlines. It was widely speculated that Jackson was being groomed by Al Davis to inherit Coach Cable’s job before season’s end. Well…one three game winning streak later and wouldn’t you know it…all was right in Raider Nation. Suddenly the [...]

Things Fall Apart: Raiders Lose Late in Jacksonville

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, at least we know the Raiders aren’t a playoff team after losing what felt like a playoff game in Jacksonville today. Somehow a 24-14 lead became a 38-31 defeat. You could almost smell the Raider mystique until the wheels fell off in the second half. This one was setting up lovely for Tom Cable. How can you lose when you have an unstoppable Darren McFadden and a lead in the second half? Before we go any further, let’s have a moment of silence for one of the best performances you’ll ever see in your life. Run DMC’s 3 TDs [...]

Simple Success: Stop Maurice Jones-Drew, Beat Jaguars

AUTHOR: | IN: Preview | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

For the Oakland Raiders this is what the season has come down to. Their biggest weakness the last seven years must become their greatest strength this Sunday. Much like the Raiders, the Jacksonville Jaguars rely on their running game. Unlike the Raiders, the Jaguars are a one man show with regards to their ground game. Therefore, the solution is simple: Stop Maurice Jones-Drew. Beat the Jaguars. Jacksonville enters Sunday’s contest having won 7 and lost 5 on the season. Look no further than how MJD has faired in those 5 losses to know what the secret is to beating the [...]

Jarvis Moss Suffers Broken Hand in Practice

AUTHOR: | IN: Injury Reports | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well, Jarvis Moss is officially a Raider now. Signed just over a week ago to replace the injured Trevor Scott, now Moss is suffering from an injury of his own. The former Bronco is reported to have broken his right hand in practice today. Fortunately for defensive linemen, they usually play with injuries of the sort. In fact, Tom Cable thinks there is still a chance Moss might play in Jacksonville this Sunday. All things being considered, Cable has got to get some love for Coach of the Year honors. Aside from the usual Raiders drama, Cable’s team is more [...]

Raiders-Jaguars Will be a Reunion for Some

AUTHOR: | IN: Preview | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

There is plenty at stake this Sunday when the Raiders roll into Jacksonville. Sure, there are playoff hopes on the line and potentially jobs in the balance as well. But for a few there is an added incentive – revenge. The Raiders feature three former Jaguars on their roster while Jacksonville’s defense features Oakland’s own native son. There is plenty to play for as it is, but these four players will have a lot more to fuel their passion on Sunday.

Rookie Rampage!

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft, Jacoby Ford, Los Angeles Raiders, NFL, Raider Nation, Raiders, Richard Seymour | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Oakland Raiders had an outstanding draft adding the most dominant Raider rookie class in decades.  We will start with wide receiver Jacoby Ford.  I know, I know, borderline man crush!  The kid has a great fundamental skill set, great hands, tenacity, and playmaking ability that we have not seen in a wide receiver in years.  Jacoby has 868 return yards (24 yards per) and two visits to pay dirt.  He is averaging 19.1 yards per reception and two more touchdowns. Lamarr Houston, defensive end/tackle.  Lamarr plays like he is upset at the world.  He treats offensive linemen and quarterbacks [...]

Sizing Up Oakland’s Chances to Win AFC West

AUTHOR: | IN: Raiders, Schedule | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Let’s be honest. If the Oakland Raiders want to be playing in the postseason then their only chance will be to win the AFC West. So, just how do the Raiders fare in their quest? Let’s look at the schedule. First things first. This team has to handle its business. That is much easier said than done when you look at the road ahead. This Sunday’s swing through Jacksonville is a straight up elimination game. Make no mistake; this is March Madness for the Silver and Black. They have to win to stay alive. The Jaguars are in the same [...]
