Free Agent Frenzy!
This is a (dream) list of restricted and non-restricted free agents that could help the Raiders in 2011. Brent Grimes CB, Atlanta, (2010 Stats: 87 tackles, 5 INT, 23 pass breakups). With the imminent departure of Namdi, we are going to be hurting at cornerback. Barrett Ruud, LB, Bucs, (2010 Stats: 120 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT) Ruud has lead the Bucks the last 4 seasons in tackles. We need to stop the run and that takes someone who is not afraid to wrap up. Malcom Floyd, WR, San Diego, (2010 Stats: 37 catches, 717 yards, 6 TD) The Raiders [...]
Rob Ryan Rumored to Return to Raiders
Though he has yet to be named head coach all signs would indicate Hue Jackson is days away from becoming the next ex-coach of the Oakland Raiders. The biggest clue of all is that Al Davis is beginning his assistant coaching search. While it might be Jackson making the calls, it is Davis who ultimately hires the staff. Today, the Chronicle reports that former Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is rumored to be headed back to the East Bay to replace John Marshall. Ryan has spent the last couple years in Cleveland after spending 5 seasons in Oakland. Now here [...]
Tim Brown Makes another Run at the Hall
Hopefully the second time will be a charm for Raider great Tim Brown. Yesterday the 17 finalists for 2011 Hall of Fame enshrinement were announced with Brown among them for the second year in a row. Before we praise Tim, let us first have another moment of silence for Ray Guy. By far the most disrespected player in the history of American sports, Guy again failed to make the final cut. This is a topic that will never die amongst Raider Nation. Nobody is arguing that the Hall should start opening its doors to all punters, just the one that [...]
Nnamdi Asomugha is Free to Leave Oakland
We knew this day was coming. Two years ago Al Davis inked Nnamdi Asomugha to a complex deal that was the largest in league history for a DB. Seeking to avoid the franchise tag, Asomugha’s contract called for him to be paid on par with the NFL’s top quarterbacks but also had a specific stipulation that would void the three year agreement after two seasons. Well, that dreaded day has come as Aso failed to meet certain contractual incentives thus voiding his deal and placing the best cover corner in the NFL on the free agent market. As if that [...]
Stars are Lining Up for Hue Jackson
Unless he has designs on starting his head coaching career at the bottom rung – Carolina or Denver – then Hue Jackson is set to assume the throne in Oakland. How long it will take Al Davis to stroll down the hall and offer the job to Jackson is anybody’s guess. For now, it would appear all but certain that things are shaping up perfectly for Jackson. The biggest domino of all – Tom Cable – fell earlier in the week. With a seemingly smooth path paved for Jackson to go from coordinator to head coach, the only other obstacles [...]
Richard Seymour a No Go for Pro Bowl
There will be one less Raider in Hawaii. Richard Seymour will be unable to participate in the Pro Bowl due to the nagging hamstring injury that kept him out of action at the end of the season. While Tommy Kelly is an alternate he will not be taking his teammate’s place on the roster. Instead it’s Kyle Williams of Buffalo that will replace Seymour. Seymour has been to his share of Pro Bowls so it’s not like he’s missing out on some once in a lifetime opportunity. Both Nnamdi Asomugha and Shane Lecher are still in the mix to rep [...]
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
8 and 8 never looked so great! Upon returning back to work on Monday, all of the Raider haters had nothing to say. All the Charger, Chief, and Bronco fans that usually run their mouths relentlessly were stupified. I walked the halls at work and I said to all of my co-workers who follow an NFL team “Raaaaaaaiderssss”. I didn’t hear the normal, “You guys suck” or “Wait till next week”. Nothing! They just would look at me, lips quivering as their minds thought of something clever to say. “Guns jammed huh?” The Raiders owned the AFC West this season. [...]
2011 Draft Pics
I saw this video on Youtube.com and thought I would post it. It’s off season. Time to think and address the Raiders needs. Would like to hear your feedback on the Raiders needs. Happy New Year. Go Nation! Raider Possible Draft Pics 2011. Greg Simon JBB Staff Writer
Al “The Bizarre” Davis
The Raiders had their finest season in 8 years because of the young talent on the team, and coach Tom Cable. The basis for this change was a “can do” belief that Tom Cable had installed. Cable is no longer under contract with the Raiders after this season and has since been released. Cable has done something that the other 20 coaches you fired since 2002 have not done Al. WIN! Thanks for helping us become yet the WTF talk of the NFL again Al. You seem to love to flex your 100 year old arms at the wrong time to prove [...]
Al Davis Cuts Off Nose to Spite Face
This is what Al Davis has been reduced to. His impatient nature has certainly got the best of him in recent years. Who can forget the ridiculous amount of money he committed to the worst free agency class ever in ’08? But by firing Tom Cable, Davis has broken new ground. The iconic owner’s ego has grown so large that he is now unable to see where his franchise stands in the football universe. To be sure, the Oakland Raiders are still one of the gold-star franchises in all of sports. Few logos are as popular and have the worldwide [...]
