After weeks of offensive hires, the Oakland Raiders have finally begun to address their defensive staff. Chuck Bresnahan, formerly a defensive coordinator with the Raiders, is back as a “defensive coach”.
While his title is about as vague as Bresnahan’s actual role with the team the early speculation is that he’ll be working with the linebackers. Vittorio Tafur of the Chronicle goes one step further to say that Bresnahan could be an insurance policy should the team be unable to land one of their coveted candidates for the still vacant DC position.
When last employed by the Silver and Black, Bresnahan coordinated a defense that actually had success at stopping the run which, in turn, helped take the Silver and Black to the Super Bowl. Bresnahan spent last season in the UFL and previously worked with Hue Jackson during his time in Cincinnati.
