Slowly but surely, the awkward process of piecing together the defensive staff in Oakland is taking shape. Today Greg Biekert inherited the position of linebackers coach leaving many to wonder what exactly that means in the grand scheme if things.
When Chuck Bresnahan was hired as a “defensive coach” it was thought that he would be working primarily with the linebackers. Well, that ain’t the case. Therefore the natural question is just who exactly is in charge of the defense?
Now that the Super Bowl has concluded all eyes in Raider Land shifted towards Green Bay assistants Winston Moss and Darren Perry. As of yet there is no movement on that front and who really knows if there ever will be.
Perhaps Breshanah was the defensive coordinator all along. Around Oakland it’s hard to say. You never really know what is what as Al Davis prefers the Kim Jong-Il approach to disseminating information. Whatever the case it seems apparent that the emphasis is on the offense as no time was wasted in assembling that staff.
For now, Biekert gets a chance to coach the position he played for years in Silver and Black while Bresnahan…well…I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how that whole situation works itself out.
