Tim Brown Fails to Make Final Cut
Seven names were announced for the 2011 Hall of Fame class and Tim Brown was not among them. For the second year in a row the Raider great was a finalist and for the second time he didn’t get the votes necessary for enshrinement. Among those elected were Deion Sanders, Richard Dent, Marshall Faulk and former Bronco Shannon Sharpe. Joining Brown on the quest to make the cut in 2012 are a couple other all-time great receivers – Cris Carter and Andre Reed – who also received inadequate vote tallies this time around. After weeks of offensive hires, the Oakland Raiders have finally begun to address their defensive staff. Chuck Bresnahan, formerly a defensive coordinator with the Raiders, is back as a “defensive coach”. While his title is about as vague as Bresnahan’s actual role with the team the early speculation is that he’ll be working with the linebackers. Vittorio Tafur of the Chronicle goes one step further to say that Bresnahan could be an insurance policy should the team be unable to land one of their coveted candidates for the still vacant DC position. Raiders Tap Bob Wylie to Coach O-Line
Last week Oakland introduced Steve Wisniewski as the assistant offensive line coach. Yesterday, they announced who his boss will be. Bob Wylie has been hired as the offensive line coach. The Raiders made it official with a press release you can read here. Hue Jackson gets yet another coach in his offensive cupboard and as you’d expect, he’s excited. “Bob is a spectacular teacher, motivator and drill sergeant.
