We’re at that point where rumors that never had any legs are up for legitimate discussion. That’s not so unusual this time of year. Lockout or not the NFL news cycle isn’t in high gear in June.
But given the current languishing labor issues we’re stuck talking about meaningless tidbits like Alex Smith discussing rumors of the Raiders having interest in his services.
Smith did an interview with Tim Kawakami where the Raider rumors were among the topics.
Jerry McDonald quickly dispels the notion that Oakland ever had an interest in Smith citing a Raiders scout that all but summed up Smith being an un-Davis like prospect.
As if the talks of the Niners and Raiders sharing a stadium weren’t enough were now supposed to believe they’re swapping busts too?
No doubt there are some serious questions about the QB job in the East Bay going forward. Still, Smith seems to hardly be the answer though it seems even more difficult to explain why he keeps getting opportunities in The City.
Whatever the case there really isn’t much to this so let’s just make like JaMarcus Russell at a buffet and keep it moving.
