With the 2011 NFL season teetering on the brink of extinction there is word of a potential agreement being reached in the coming weeks. Exactly how anyone has gotten any word of this is beyond me but good news is better than no news…I guess.
At this point does anyone really care what the last few sticking points are? Does it really matter to any of us fans just who gets how much of whatever piece of a $9-billion pie being split? At this point I don’t even care if there is a rookie wage scale which is the only topic I had any interest in during this fiasco.
Bottom line. Get a deal done and let’s get back to football!
As of now these reports of the progress being made at these not-at-all secret meetings has to be taken as conjecture. Unlike the actually game itself there is no scoreboard in the business of football. Therefore you’ll have to excuse me if I don’t take to the streets celebrating the end of our long national nightmare.
I will say this much, it would be very opportune for the NFL to deliver some great news right about now. With the NBA season concluded, the NHL down to its final game and MLB slowly moving towards the August pennant races now would be perfect for football to steal the show.
Come to think of it, it almost feels as if this whole scenario has been contrived to reach this exact point.
I’m just exhausted by all of the pointless talk we’ve had to engage in over the last three months. I’ll wait until those padlocks come off before getting any hopes up. Right about now I no longer have any opinion on this ordeal. I just want football. Whatever it takes, make it happen.
