I have an ex-girlfriend called the NFL. Every time I think of what she is doing to me my stomach turns. I’ve been dedicated to her for countless years. Darrius Heyward-Bey looks highly unlikely to ever live up to his draft status. Before he even served the first day of his 20-month sentence Plaxico Burress was rumored to become a Raider upon his release. Nothing really shocking there. About the only thing less imaginative than linking knuckleheads to Oakland is Rebecca Black’s song writing. We’re at that point where rumors that never had any legs are up for legitimate discussion. That’s not so unusual this time of year. Lockout or not the NFL news cycle isn’t in high gear in June. But given the current languishing labor issues we’re stuck talking about meaningless tidbits like Alex Smith discussing rumors of the Raiders having interest in his services. The longer this lockout lasts the less I care about professional football. Yeah…I said it. My love for the Oakland Raiders only goes so far. Don’t get it twisted. Trying to imagine Sundays in the fall without the Silver and Black is a nightmare. But most all nightmares are only temporary.
