Rumor Control: Raiders Will Not Pursue Cedric Benson

The following is a memo to all Raider Haters worldwide.

Before anyone can write the obvious punch line to this running joke, let’s get something straight.

No!

The Oakland Raiders will not be going after recently arrested free agent running back Cedric Benson. As mush as all you Raider haters out there would love to see another Al Davis special, it’s not going to happen.

First and foremost, the Raiders are loaded at running back. Secondly, Mr. Davis is no longer a rest haven for knuckleheads. Lastly, Cedric Benson is a castoff of the Cincinnati Bengals. That alone says it all.

The Queen City has suddenly become the last chance saloon for NFL vagabonds. So for good measure let’s just go ahead and add Pacman Jones and Terrell Owens to this rumor control as well.
