Normally we don’t spend much time talking about UFAs here on JBB. The only two that you’ll see discussed on any regularity are Nick Miller and Desmond Bryant. But being that we’ve all been wandering through a desert known as the NFL Lockout for four months and we got out first taste of water this morning via free agency it’s only right we discuss all the undrafted free agents the Raiders reportedly signed today.
Now if you’re expecting a full blown analysis of all the camp bodies the Raiders inked today you’re in the wrong place. I’m an avid fan of college football and a bit of a draftnik but I’m by no means Rain Man when it comes to every player under the sun.
While I do stick up for the “little guys” of the league, I’m not going to pretend to know enough of Oakland’s UFAs to offer any analysis. Most of these guys are in camp just to be able to have enough men for practice and a couple might make the practice squad.
All that said none of this is official as the Raiders have yet to make any announcement and depending on who you talk to this list could be incomplete. That being said, here is what Steve Corkran compiled.
Offensive linemen Alan Pelc (North Carolina), Lou Eliades (Penn State) and Ben Iamaak (Iowa State), safety Zac Etheridge (Auburn), linebackers Ben Gbadyu (Penn State) and Chris Francis (Baylor), quarterback/wide receiver Eddie McGee (Illinois), wide receiver Derrick Jones (California, Pa.), defensive end Mason Brodine (Nebraska-Kearney) and cornerback Sterling Moore (Southern Methodist).
