Either Al Davis is busy at work restructuring player contracts or there’s a massive waive of cuts coming. PFT reports the Raiders remain leaders of the pack when it comes to eclipsing the salary cap boasting of a healthy $17-million over the line.
Not much of a surprise there. Even without the salaries of Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller the Raiders were cash strapped.
Thus far Oakland has made minimal moves. There has been no notable activity as far as free agent signings go. Even less with respect to roster moves. But rest assured the Raiders will have to get rid of some contracts via restructuring or outright releases. The deadline to reach cap compliance is tomorrow when the league year is scheduled to officially begin.
