Al Davis might have taken his sweet time attempting to re-sign Zach Miller but he’s wasting no time replacing his Pro Bowl tight end. Jerry McDonald is among the media members on hand reporting the sightings of former Giant Kevin Boss at the Raiders’ camp.
Boss expressed his desire to be a Raider should Miller depart. Low and behold Miller makes his way to Seattle and 24 hours later Boss is in Napa.
While there is no way to substitute Miller’s production Boss provides the Raiders with a more than serviceable replacement. So sold on the former 5th round pick were the Giants that they cut ties with former first round pick Jeremy Shockey. Boss’ production has been somewhat comparable to that of Miller’s over the last few seasons.
If there is one drastic difference between the two tight ends it’s that Miller is more of a threat after the catch. However Boss has been much more productive in the red zone which is an area of the filed where Miller always seemed to disappear.
