We’re just under 24 hours away from getting our first glimpse of the 2011 version of the Silver and Black and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you frequent JBB often enough then you know I was very sour on the NFL during the lockout. At one point I openly proclaimed my indifference on even having a season.
Well…that was then and this is now.
Tomorrow night is only the first preseason game and I’m sure midway through the third quarter I’ll be more bored than JaMarcus Russell watching game tape. None the less I’m more restless than a kid on Christmas Eve.
No matter how old I get I still get chills whenever I hear the Autumn Wind.
No matter how poorly they may be playing I still get fired up whenever I see those black jerseys and silver helmets.
No matter how much the business of football detracts from the game itself I’m still just as much a fan today as I was when I went to my first Raider game at the L.A. Coliseum over 20 years ago.
I know I’m not alone out there. No matter what the rest of the world thinks of Raider Nation none can deny our passion and commitment to the team.
As much as I would have missed football had the lockout robbed us of a season, I would have missed my fellow Raider brethren more. There’s an indescribable comfort in meeting another member of Raider Nation. We all share a unique bond no matter our beliefs outside of football.
So for those who anticipate the preseason as much as the regular season, this post is for you!
Tomorrow we get our first glimpse of Hue Jackson’s Raiders. I know I’m far from alone when I quote Bart Scott – can’t wait!
