He might be a Hall of Fame broadcaster but Al Michaels is a Hall of Fame hater. Don’t take my word for it though. Click on the image below for the TMZ exclusive video.
Now, I’m no historian. But I’m thinking a guy like Al Davis who has been a successful coach, commissioner, owner and just so happens to be in the pro football Hall of Fame is a legend. Call me a homer but that resume speaks for itself.
As for Michaels’ assertion that Davis does not deserve the genius label, well, let’s put it this way. Albert Einstein only had to think up one theory of relativity. While he made plenty of other contributions to science, that alone merits lifetime genius status.
Not trying to make an apples to apples comparison between Davis and Einstein but in case you haven’t noticed how big the sport of football is in this country then maybe you’re also unaware of how big a hand Davis had in the whole expansion of professional football.
Now by no means should the last decade be ignored (a decade in which the Raider did appear in a Super Bowl, mind you). But when you’re around the game for nearly 5 decades you’re going to have a bad one.
But what do I know? I’m not some egomaniac with a smug attitude like Bob Costas buying hair dye in Wal Greens.
Congrats, Michaels! I’m guessing you won’t be able to convince us all that Mr. Davis isn’t a genius but you certainly have confirmed to the entire world that you’re a pompous douchebag. Well played, sir.
