The Al Davis philosophy lives on in Oakland.
Jay Glazer is reporting that the Raiders and Seahawks have come to terms on a trade that will send two future draft picks to Seattle in exchange for Aaron Curry.
This is a vintage Davis move even if it was made by the new Davis in charge. Whoever it is that ultimately orchestrated this deal is has the Al Davis blueprint all over it.
Curry was an athletic freak of a linebacker coming out of Wake Forest that shot up the draft board after some impressive workouts. So enamored with Curry’s talents were the Seahawks that they took him 4th overall in the ’09 draft.
Sine arriving in the Pacific Northwest, Curry has been a big disappointment to the point where he was benched just a couple weeks ago.
With Oakland in dire need of adding more depth and talent to the linebacker corps, taking the gamble on Curry is well worth the Raiders’ risk. Of course Glazer also reports that the deal is dependent upon Curry agreeing to “re-work” his current contract.
Yet another reclamation project undertaken by the Raiders in the true spirit of how Al Davis would have done things.
