Out of Bounds: 5 Quirky Questions for a Chiefs Blogger

Here we go, Nation! Its game day and those Kansas City Chumps…err…Chiefs are in town. Today’s game has much more at stake than you might think. After a rough start Todd Haley is finally getting his team back on track. The Raiders are riding a two game win streak and a 4 game home sellout streak. It goes without saying that Raider Nation will be out in full force to give the Silver and Black a lift as they fight off their long time rivals.

For Kansas City this game provides the chance to get right back in hunt for the AFC West. As usual we took our own unusual approach to breaking down the competition.

If you don’t already know the FanSided family boasts of the best Chiefs blog in existence, Arrowhead Addict. My man Patrick Allen just so happens to be the senior editor over at AA, so it was only right we reached out to him to get some insight on our opponents. Now I might question Patrick’s football taste but never his football knowledge. Below are our typical odd ball questions with some legit answers.

Enjoy the game!

Q: If Todd Haley were a filmmaker which director would he most resemble?

A: It’s gotta be Quentin Tarantino. Is brilliant? Is he crazy? With Tarantino, like Haley, you are never quite sure what you are going to get. His style is unorthodox. Sometimes it is a home run and sometimes it comes back to bite him in the ass. Regardless, a Haley coached team, like a Tarantino film, is exciting. Also both men are probably just a tad bit too impressed with themselves…which can be both an asset and a curse.

Q: Dwayne Bowe has 3 TDs or Carson Palmer has 3 INTs: Which is more likely to happen Sunday?

A: Bowe. Not because I am a Chiefs fan but because Bowe has been hot, Palmer may not even play and I think the TD’s are more likely to come from Oakland’s running game than passing.

Q: Todd Haley’s training camp or Charlie Weis: Which is more overblown?

A: Weis. I still believe Haley’s training camp was the single biggest mistake he’s made since becoming a head coach. I never believed Weis was having that big of an impact on the offense. Haley is a fine play caller. KC’s problem has never been play calling, it has been execution.

People are always so quick to bitch about play calling. Yeah, sometimes teams call a stupid or obvious play but in most cases, when the offense executes the play works and when they don’t it doesn’t. Every time there is a failed play, inevitably someone starts bitching about the play calling but when it works, they think the offensive coordinator is a genius.

I am sure Weis is excellent at his job but Haley knows offense as well. As long as the players do their jobs though, most of the plays should work.

Q: Better sucker punch: Tom Cable or Thomas Jones?

A: It has to be Thomas Jones. Cable only sucker punches women, so I can’t really give him any points for that. Has to be Thom Jones. Or as I like to call him, “Rookieslayer.”

And finally…the most important question of all…

Q: Jackie Battle: Start or Sit?

A: You know, my instinct is to say sit. Battle is way unproven and any running back can have one good game. If you have more consistent options on your team, I’d roll with them and wait another week to evaluate Battle. The Raiders are so physical up front and I don’t think the KC offensive line has enough muscle to open up holes against them for a power back like Battle.

Then again, maybe a power back against the Raiders is just what the Chiefs have been missing. Still, I’d be cautious here.
