By now you’ve heard that Al Saunders kinda, sorta, might could possibly have spilled the beans. It’s not really a surprise that Hue Jackson is considering starting Carson Palmer within days of becoming a Raider. Just ask Aaron Curry about that. With Hue Jackson calling the shots in the East Bay we are clearly entering a new era of Raiders football. While Al Davis did a lot of his recent dealings with the New England Patriots, Coach Jackson is leaning on his past relationship with the Cincinnati Bengals to bolster the roster. The roller coaster season for the Oakland Raiders keeps rolling along. It seems like each day there is some sort of good news offset by the announcement of bad news. Yesterday the Raiders acquired Carson Palmer mere days after losing Jason Campbell. Today Palmer was officially placed on the Raiders’ roster. Making way for Palmer on the 53-man is Matt Shaughnessy who has been shutdown for the balance of the season. In case you doubt that the spirit of Al Davis is still around then check the news that is setting the NFL on fire. According to multiple reports the Raiders and Bengals are on the verge of completing a trade that would send Carson Palmer to Oakland. That would be the same Carson Palmer who decided to stay home instead of collecting an eight figure salary from the Cincinnati Bengals. Special teams are called special teams for reason. If our special teams did not show up on Sunday, we would have lost to the Cleveland Browns. Thank god for special teams! If it wasn’t for Jacoby Ford’s 101 yard run back for a touchdown and Shane’s great fake/pass for a touchdown to Kevin Boss we would have lost. Having said that, our defense played very well. Within hours of Jason Campbell breaking his collar bone the rumors began to spread as to which available QB the Raiders would reach out to. The two names that garnered the most attention were Carson Palmer and David Garrard. These have been very trying times for the Oakland Raiders. Consecutive wins have come on the heels of the passing of Al Davis with Sunday’s victory coming at a cost. While the Raiders have firmly established themselves as contenders this season they could have to prove they can continue to push for the playoffs without Jason Campbell. Campbell’s broken collar bone has put a damper on an otherwise perfect weekend of Raiders football. The good news is that the Oakland Raiders have finally strung together two straight wins in a 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The bad news is that the win has come at a cost.
