Hue Jackson Can’t Wait to Play With His New Toy
By now you’ve heard that Al Saunders kinda, sorta, might could possibly have spilled the beans. It’s not really a surprise that Hue Jackson is considering starting Carson Palmer within days of becoming a Raider. Just ask Aaron Curry about that. However with CP3 (no disrespect to Chris Paul) it is a much different scenario. Curry was at least playing football this season prior to slipping into a Silver and Black uniform. Palmer has been tossing the rock and taking mental reps while awaiting his fate to be decided by Mike Brown. Still that isn’t slowing Coach Jackson’s roll. If [...]
Raiders Make a Safety Swap
With Hue Jackson calling the shots in the East Bay we are clearly entering a new era of Raiders football. While Al Davis did a lot of his recent dealings with the New England Patriots, Coach Jackson is leaning on his past relationship with the Cincinnati Bengals to bolster the roster. Lost in the shuffle of all the Carson Palmer headlines was another former Bengal joining the Raiders yesterday. Chinedum Ndukwe was added to the active roster. A former 7th round pick out of Notre Dame, Ndukwe made a name for himself by becoming a starter in Cincinnati after coming [...]
Raiders Place Matt Shaughnessy on IR
The roller coaster season for the Oakland Raiders keeps rolling along. It seems like each day there is some sort of good news offset by the announcement of bad news. Yesterday the Raiders acquired Carson Palmer mere days after losing Jason Campbell. Today Palmer was officially placed on the Raiders’ roster. Making way for Palmer on the 53-man is Matt Shaughnessy who has been shutdown for the balance of the season. Shaughnessy’s shoulder issue wasn’t looking likely to improve as just two weeks ago Hue Jackson said he was “a ways away” from coming back. That proved to be an [...]
Pardon my broken English but…ah…Hue Jackson ain’t f@#*in’ around. When Coach Jackson said he was going to carry on the Al Davis tradition we knew that meant he had to just win, baby. Fact of the matter is Jackson is trying to just win right now, baby! But hey, this is football, one of the most bottom line businesses you’ll find. Therefore it was imperative the Raiders not rest on their laurels. That was the mentality that got Tom Cable a one-way ticket to Seattle. And judging by how aggressively the Raiders moved to acquire both Aaron Curry and now [...]
Raiders to Trade for Carson Palmer
In case you doubt that the spirit of Al Davis is still around then check the news that is setting the NFL on fire. According to multiple reports the Raiders and Bengals are on the verge of completing a trade that would send Carson Palmer to Oakland. That would be the same Carson Palmer who decided to stay home instead of collecting an eight figure salary from the Cincinnati Bengals. The same Carson Palmer owner Mike Brown said he wouldn’t “reward” with a trade. The same Carson Palmer that was once among the NFL elite at the quarterback position. As [...]
Long Live “Special” Teams
Special teams are called special teams for reason. If our special teams did not show up on Sunday, we would have lost to the Cleveland Browns. Thank god for special teams! If it wasn’t for Jacoby Ford’s 101 yard run back for a touchdown and Shane’s great fake/pass for a touchdown to Kevin Boss we would have lost. Having said that, our defense played very well. We kept pressure on Colt McCoy all day. Only two sacks recorded, but plenty of hits, hurries and knock downs. I’m sure someone on the Raiders D will get fined by Hitler Goodell this [...]
David Garrard No Longer an Option for Oakland
Within hours of Jason Campbell breaking his collar bone the rumors began to spread as to which available QB the Raiders would reach out to. The two names that garnered the most attention were Carson Palmer and David Garrard. While the possibility of landing Palmer remains a long shot given the circumstances of current situation, it still remains a possibility. Now Garrard, on the other hand, is off the shortlist for good. According to Jay Glazer, Garrard himself called to let the Fox insider know he’s going to need surgery to repair herniated disc in his back. That pretty much [...]
Jason Campbell Confident to Return in 6 Weeks
These have been very trying times for the Oakland Raiders. Consecutive wins have come on the heels of the passing of Al Davis with Sunday’s victory coming at a cost. While the Raiders have firmly established themselves as contenders this season they could have to prove they can continue to push for the playoffs without Jason Campbell. Campbell’s broken collar bone has put a damper on an otherwise perfect weekend of Raiders football. JC is slated to undergo surgery and is keeping it positive saying he hopes to return within six weeks. That estimate is definitely on the positive side [...]
Raiders Win 24-17 Over Browns; Lose Jason Campbell
The good news is that the Oakland Raiders have finally strung together two straight wins in a 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The bad news is that the win has come at a cost. Long before there was even an NFL season JBB has taken the stance that Kyle Boller just wasn’t a good enough backup plan. Needless to say this is one topic that I hoped to never revisit. None the less here we are as Jason Campbell is already rumored to be done for the rest of the season with a broken collar bone. Gulp! But before [...]
Out of Bounds: 5 Quirky Questions for a Browns Blogger
By now you know the routine. Its gameday and JBB wants to get you ready for the battle between the Raiders and Browns. Of course we don’t like to give you the normal analysis. We prefer to do things differently. Few franchises have the fan following of the Raiders and Browns so it was a no-brainer when we reached out to Steve DiMatteo over at Dawg Pound Daily. Steve represents his faithful fan base well and had fun playing along with our odd line of questioning. Here is what DPD’s lead writer had to say. Q: If Colt McCoy were [...]
