Sebastian Janikowski Building a Hater Proof Resume
By now Sebastian Janikowski is used to being hated on. My man was greeted with hate when Al Davis made the Commish call his name in the first round of the draft. As soon as Jano started making more headlines for what he did off the field than on it the hate grew like Warren Sapp’s waistline. Even after Seabass toned down the extras and turned up his production he still was hated on for any Pro Bowl love. Well that is all about to change this season. Sure, Janikowski is still dealing with a court case. But his performance [...]
Former Raiders DT Chester McGlockton Dead at 42
Early this morning former Raiders defensive tackle Chester McGlockton passed away. Sadly enough McGlockton was only 42 years of age. Stanford University made the announcement as McGlockton was working as a defensive assistant on David Shaw’s staff. Shaw released the following statement. “Everyone in the Stanford football family is deeply saddened by the passing of Chester McGlockton. For the past two seasons, Chester has been a valuable member of our football staff and a wonderful friend to us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chester’s wife, Zina, and their two children.” McGlockton was originally selected by the then [...]
Unless that team on the other side of the Bay and their coach take a Josh McDaniels nosedive, chances are the coach of the year award will reside in San Francisco. But that doesn’t mean Hue Jackson shouldn’t get some serious consideration for coach of the year. Now let’s get something straight. This isn’t one of those charity cases where a coach gets props for making magic happen when none was expected. The Raiders should have been in the playoffs last year. For Coach Jackson to see his team not competing would have been proof Al Davis made a bad [...]

If you’re one of the many great readers of this blog then you already know the Raiders have a game in Miami on Sunday. Or maybe you’re a member of Raider Nation living in South Florida that wants to show up on game day good to go for the contest. Or maybe you’re just going to go to the sports bar of your choice and meet up with some friends. Whatever the case, you’re going to be in [...]
Super Shane Lechler: The Devin Hester Killer
For years the debate has raged. To kick to Devin Hester or not. That is the dilemma. Many teams have tried different approaches with mixed results. To be sure Hester is the greatest return man in the history of the game. Sometimes there is nothing you can do except kick and pray. That is unless you are the Oakland Raiders who have a knack for keeping Hester in check. Given Oakland’s success you’d assume teams would be studying game tape to unlock Oakland’s secret. In reality there is no secret. The Raiders do things the Al Davis way. They kick [...]
Darren McFadden Taking Baby Steps to Recovery
There is an old saying that goes; you gotta crawl before you ball. Sometimes in life you’ve got to do that even if you were already balling. Just ask Darren McFadden. In the middle of the best season of his pro football career, McFadden was revisited by his old nemesis. The injury bug took another bite out of Run DMC’s career just as he was leading the NFL in rushing. Football, just like life, can be cruel. Over a month has passed since McFadden has suited up for a game but today he finally took his first steps to getting [...]
Sebastian Janikowski Kicks Chicago to the Curb
In football terms the field goal is about as sexy as Betty White in crotchless panties. Unless, of course, that field goal propels your team to victory. In that case the field goal can be as attractive as the super model of your choice wearing the same panties as Betty White. Mixed visual imagery aside, more often than not seeing the kicker come onto the field is a symbol of failure. As in your team failed to find the end zone. This season Sebastian Janikowski has done for the field goal what high-definition has done for video game addicts. Today [...]
Just Win, Baby: Raiders Best Bears 25-20
There are no style points in the NFL. There is no BCS formula to determine winners and losers in the pro ranks. The teams on the field determine their own destiny. Today the Raiders took another big step towards realizing their goals as a team. Now this was far from a thing of beauty. I’ve seen hung-over frat houses that look better than the football played today by the Bears and Raiders. In the end the scoreboard was as sexy as Salma Hayek in the nude pouring a celebratory drink. Oakland out lasted Chicago in a 25-20 win that was [...]
Sebastian Janikowski Absent From Injury Report
For the first time in over a month the Raiders released an injury report without the name Sebastian Janikowski appearing on it. That doesn’t mean Sebass is back at full strength. But you can count on the Raiders relying on Jano like they did early in the season. When you look back on it you could argue that Janikowski was almost as important to the Raiders as Darren McFadden. Now I’m not trying to make an apples to apples comparison. But there is no doubt a weapon as valuable as Janikowski can influence how Hue Jackson goes about putting together [...]
Out of Bounds: 5 Quirky Questions for a Bears Blogger
All week long all the talk has been about how the Chicago Bears will look without Jay Cutler pouting on the sideline this Sunday. Well, the answer for that will be found once the game starts. Now learning which John Hughes movie most resembles the 2011 Chicago Bears that, my friends, is an answer that can only be found right here on JBB. As we always do on the eve of the game we reached out to a great writer to give him our typically unusual questions to help get you ready for Sunday. This week was a real treat [...]
