It is easy to point to those six sickening interceptions as the biggest reason why the Raiders fell to the Chiefs two weeks ago. What is hard to ignore is that they were without two of their top weapons as Darren McFadden went out early and Sebastian Janikowski never even suited up.
Today against Denver the Raiders are still without Run DMC but they’re going to be going to battle with Seabass conducting the kicking duties.
Unless something happens between now and the 1pm kick, Jano will be playing. So convinced that Janikowski is good to go were the Raiders that they let their insurance policy, Dave Rayner, expire. Rayner was the man that collected a cool $45,000 for one kick last week in Jano’s absence. He was also the man sent home yesterday as Janikowski passed a fitness test that deemed him fit to kick.
It is no secret that Janikowski is one of the great special teams weapons in the history of the game. As the old saying goes, Janikowski’s range is when he steps on the field. Hopefully the Raiders will pile on the Broncos making any need for late Seabass dramatics unnecessary. But if his hamstring is good to go then it is refreshing to know the Raiders will have a huge advantage in a close contest.
