Terrell Pryor at Wide Receiver
Hue Jackson has a little bit of Al Davis in him. What I mean by that is Hue is not afraid to take chances. He goes for on fourth downs, attempts 60+ yard field goals and is not concerned about running a double reverse four times in one game. So why wouldn’t Hue try something like playing Terrell Pryor at an “H” back position or even wide receiver. We all have seen Pryor’s skill set. The kid can run and has a great arm. Pryor may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but the guy is an “athlete” [...]
The DMoe Effect
We saw the effect that one special athlete can do to a teams success first hand this weekend versus the Lions. Calvin Johnson ate our secondary for lunch and came back for seconds and thirds! Megatron is for real. We have been ugly on offense and Carson Palmer’s play has been less then stellar. Then an endowment from the NFL gods shows up on the field in the form of Denarius Moore (DMoe). DMoe is back and off the populated and very trendy injury bench. You may look at DMoe’s stats for the day and say 2 catches for 13 [...]
Chuck’s got to go!
Chuck Bresnahan has got to go! The last straw has been drawn. The last trouncing has been he’s fault once again. How many times have we had the lead this season and somehow, some way, we let the opposing team back into the game. It wasn’t our offense, for the most part, it was our defense. It is enough to drive any Raider fan to drink! Last time Chuck was in town in 2003, we got rid of him. Now he’s back and is doing the same things that got him fired. I don’t know what goes through Chuck’s head [...]
You’ve got to give it up to Hue Jackson. No matter the circumstances Coach Jackson remains positive. Like any good coach, Jackson never sees the obstacles only the solutions. Which is why this entire situation with Darren McFadden has got to have Hue unbelievably frustrated. Jackson, like everyone else including McFadden, is helpless in this matter. Each week Raider Nation awaits news on McFadden’s status and each week it is the same update – nothing new to report. All along Coach Jackson and the organization have held out hope that McFadden will return to the field at some point. Well, [...]
Season Comes Down to Final Two Games for Raiders
No matter how this season ends for the Oakland Raiders there will be plenty of second guessing. Should Oakland have simply allowed Nnamdi Asomugha to walk away so easily? Was trading for Carson Palmer good for the future or a knee-jerk reaction to now? Did late collapses against Buffalo and Detroit ultimately doom the season? All of these questions and more won’t have a true answer or at least an honest debate until all the dust has settled. What is undeniable is that the Raiders are facing two must-wins against two rivals in order to even hope of being in [...]
Raiders Lose Late To Lions In 28-27 Heartbreaker
Well, Raider Nation, today about summed up the season for the Oakland Raiders. With everything to play for, the Raiders played good enough but not great. With the entire season on the line the Raiders hung themselves out to dry. Give credit to Matt Stafford and the Detroit Lions. They made all the plays when it mattered most. Calvin Johnson was unstoppable which is why you have to wonder why Rolando McClain was stuck covering Megatron at a crucial point in the game. You also have to wonder if Oakland’s playoff hopes are as dead as Elvis. Three weeks ago [...]
Raiders Deactivate Chris Johnson For Detroit Contest
It has been a very trying year for Chris Johnson. He missed a large portion of training camp due to a groin injury that required surgery yet was able to get on the field for the season opener. That would be his most significant action of the season. Since the Monday Night opener in Denver Johnson has battled injury and grief. Johnson sat out last week’s flop in Green Bay as he was still grieving due to the tragic loss of his sister. This week Johnson will again be inactive against the Detroit Lions. For Johnson this could be the [...]
Silver and Black Plague
Greeting Raider Nation. I’m in a funk like I’m sure most of you are. I want to forget the last two weeks like it never happened. Where did my favorite all time sports franchise go? The ones that played inspired football in the name and memory of Al Davis all season. The team who came out and beat the Jets! The team that owned the AFC West last year. Who stole my team! (And if I hear the name Tebow again, I might jump off the Bay Bridge!) The injury bug has hit our beloved Oakland Raiders harder then I’ve [...]
Out Of Bounds: 5 Quirky Questions For a Lions Blogger
The Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions have a lot in common. When you think about it the cities of Detroit and Oakland have a lot in common. Both franchises enter Sunday’s game fighting for a piece of the playoffs. Both cities are old school, blue color places. Both teams are experiencing recent success after past failures. And both areas can lay claim to some of the most iconic imagery and innovation in all of Americana. Over at SideLion Report Zac Snyder has been grinding for the D like Jim Schwartz. Zac took the Lions blogosphere by storm and now runs [...]
Lately the Oakland Raiders have looked like a zombie without the hunger for human flesh. Just a reanimated corpse staggering down the road to the playoffs. Part of the reason for their undead state has been a lifeless offense. A lot of that has to do with injuries but Hue Jackson will tell you it’s all about effort. In an effort to resurrect the offense rookie receiver Denarius Moore is slated to return from the dead on Sunday. For the first time in weeks Moore will be back in the mix and his return might not have come at a [...]
