If nothing else the 2011 Oakland Raiders can boast of having one of the greatest special teams trios in the history of football. Today long-snapper extraordinaire Jon Condo was named to the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster giving the Raiders a near full-compliment of representation on special teams including kicker Sebastian Janikowski and punter Shane Lechler.
Just imagine if Jacoby Ford were healthy this season. Then there could have been a chance of the Raiders running the special teams table with Jacoby handling return duties as well.
As it stands, Condo will be making his second appearance on a Pro Bowl roster. His talent as a long-snapper has not been overlooked. Neither has his wallet. The former Maryland Terrapin is the highest paid specialists in the league. Not a bad way to clock seven figures playing a brutal game like football.
With Condo making the trip to Hawaii the Raiders will have for total players that will be crossing the Pacific at the end of the month. Richard Seymour is the lone non-special teamer for the silver and black at the moment. Alternates Darren McFadden, Tyvon Branch, Marcel Reece and Tommy Kelly all could be added as players drop out of the NFL’s All-Star contest.
