Hopefully this is the last time we’ll have to discuss any more off-field misadventures of Sebastian Janikowski. Yesterday it was reported that a judge in Walnut County ordered Janikowski to complete 30 hours of anger management and substance abuse counseling in addition to 30 hours of community service as part of an incident at a Walnut Creek nightclub that occurred back in 2010.
In order to gain admittance to the counseling program prosecutors agreed to drop one misdemeanor count of false imprisonment. Sebastian could also have another misdemeanor battery charge dropped if he completes his courses and remains arrest-free for 12 months.
When this story first broke last year there was that here-we-go-again feeling that crept through Raider Nation. Since becoming a Raider Seabass has been no stranger to legal problems. Truth be told Jano’s issues went all the way back to his days at Florida State.
Naturally all the usual Raider jokes were rolled out whenever Janikowski’s name popped up in a salacious headline.
To his credit Janikowski had remained drama-free prior to this latest incident. His play on the field had also drastically improved to the point that this story was somewhat buried. Coming off his first Pro Bowl and one of the more amazing seasons any NFL kicker has ever had should hopefully be enough to keep Janikowski focused for the foreseeable future.
