Arizona WR Juron Criner Joins Raiders Draft Class

Continuing to find value with their late round picks the Raiders used their second selection of the 5th round to grab Arizona receiver Juron Criner. The Las Vegas native has good size for an NFL receiver and was a highly productive pass catcher in the PAC 12 playing with Eagles third round pick, quarterback Nick Foles.

At one point in his collegiate career there was talk of Criner being a high round draft pick. Clearly that didn’t come to be as evident by Criner being taken 168th overall. While he doesn’t have great speed Criner does attacks the ball in the air and runs great routes. There has been some questioning of his desire based on inconsistent performance but with the right coaching Criner could become a solid possession receiver in the league. NFL Mocks compares Criner to Sidney Rice.

Of course the real dilemma facing Criner will be working his way into Oakland’s talented and young receiving corps. Louis Murphy’s job is suddenly on the line as he became the odd man out in Oakland last season and now has some competition to be fourth on the depth chart.
