Just the other day I mentioned that the Oakland Raiders might want to take a quick look at Brian Banks. Not just because of his quest for the perfect ending to a tale of redemption but mainly because he would give the Raiders a potential prospect to one day replace Rolando McClain at best and be an inspiring special teams contributor at worst.
Well, Banks has departed the Bay without a contract having worked out for 49ers and there’s no indication that the Raiders are at all considering his services.
For now it’s back to the drawing board for Banks whose quest to fulfill his dream of playing pro football is still very much alive.
Who knows? Maybe Reggie McKenzie will take a look at Banks one day. It goes without saying that Banks’ chances of having a stellar pro career are slim but that doesn’t mean he can’t make one meaningful play to help some team win a game. Would be a great tale if it happened in Silver and Black where many careers have been redeemed.
