Thus far the Oakland Raiders have been fortunate that no major injuries have occurred in training camp. Hopefully that remains the case but after today there’s no guarantee that good health will prevail.

Mike Goodson, currently battling Taiwan Jones to backup Darren McFadden, was carted off the field following a helmet-to-helmet collision with Phillip Wheeler.

According to reports, Goodson stayed down for 15 minutes while team trainers attended to him. His facemask was removed and eventually he was placed on a backboard and carted off the field.

No official word yet but early speculation is that he sustained a neck injury. Thankfully he was able to move his legs despite the collision. The hope is that he has not sustained any serious nerve or spinal damage.

Another sad reminder of the nature of football.

JBB is sending out some special thoughts to Goodson in hopes he’ll be able to resume his chosen profession. More importantly, let’s just hope he can resume a normal life.
