It wasn’t so long ago I was counting down the days until the Raiders began training camp. Then, just like that, training camp is over.
Today the Raiders concluded their first camp of the Reggie McKenzie era as the team shifts into regular season mode.
No telling what the future holds for the silver and black in 2012. Much of the early praise that came from Napa failed to appear in the first two preseason games. But that doesn’t mean the season is doomed by any stretch. In fact, if you listen to Mike Mitchell he’ll likely tell you he expects big things what with this being the best camp of his career.
“I thought it was good work. I thought we had a chance to get better. Our guys worked extremely hard. We still have a long way to go and a lot of things we have to continue to improve on, but I thought it was a good foundation to build on.”
With two preseason games left including the all important third contest the Raiders still have much work to do before the curtain goes up. Hopefully Mitchell’s assessment is correct and the foundation for a winning season has been laid. Either way you know where to find the Raiders at the same time one year from now.
